Wild Swimming was one of the 17 sports featured in the 'Join the Movement' campaign, an active lifestyle initiative launched by Sport England to encourage people from all walks of life to get involved in physical activity, regardless of age, ability, or background. Shot across the length and breadth of the country, the wild swimming segment was captured in Penzance in early January with water temperatures as low as 7 degrees Celsius. The campaign was launched in response to the Covid-19 pandemic, which led to millions of people dropping out of regular exercise due to lockdown regulations. Wild swimming was a perfect example of how people can utilise local resources to improve physical and mental wellbeing. The images were then provided as a free resource to promote overall participation in physical activity. The initiative has had a hugely positive impact, with many community groups and organisations continuing to promote the benefits of an active lifestyle.
